There is Grace to Start Over

There was a season in my life when I felt like a total disappointment. I kept thinking, “What must God think of me now? What will people say if they knew the truth?” In my mind, I had committed the worst possible mistake—something so big that I was sure God couldn’t forgive me. I assumed others would judge me too, maybe even more harshly than I was judging myself.

In my desperation, I turned to the internet, searching for some kind of hope. And in the middle of that broken place, God met me. I felt Him whisper to my heart, “There is grace to start over.”

That whisper became the beginning of a healing journey—one where God gently peeled back the layers of shame and began to restore me from the inside out. He didn’t shame me. He didn’t turn away. Instead, He reminded me that His love is unfailing—steady even when I wasn’t.

Maybe today you’re in a low place too. Maybe you’ve been hurt by people—lied on, abused, or mistreated. Or maybe the pain comes from your own choices, and shame feels like it’s sitting heavy on your chest.

No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, hear this: God doesn’t look at you through the lens of your past. He sees you through the eyes of Christ—as someone who is deeply loved, fully forgiven, and completely redeemed.

Prayer:

God, thank You for loving me when I felt unlovable. Thank You for grace that covers even the deepest wounds and the biggest mistakes. Help me to see myself the way You see me—redeemed, restored, and dearly loved. I surrender the shame, the fear, and the doubt into Your hands. Take my heart and begin a fresh work in me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
